Youth

800x400 inside pages-4

Hi everyone, and welcome!

At St Matthew's we have a passion to see young people discovering Jesus and becoming life-long disciples. The Youth Group meets in conjunction with the 10am Contemporary Service on a Sunday morning at 10am. We start together as a whole family in the main church and then go out to the youth group which meets in the vicarage after a short time of worship. There are other activities from time to time throughout the year.

We are currently recruiting for a new part-time Youth Worker to replace Liberty who has led the group this year and is now starting a new job in London. The group is still meeting and Liberty is still on team, so if you know of anyone suitable who might be interested please point them to the information below.

Parish Youth Worker – Part Time - for St Matthew’s, Southcote, Reading
We are seeking someone with a passion to see young people discovering Jesus and becoming life-long disciples. In addition to our existing group of young teenagers, our new outreach ministries have put us in touch with many families new to church life so there are great opportunities for the growth and development of the work.
The position is currently 16 hours per week dividing between the Sunday morning youth group in parallel with our contemporary 10am service, pastoral follow up with individuals, growing the work through community contact as well as some preparation and administrative tasks. The hours are highly flexible (except for Sunday mornings), so the role could suit someone already in another part time job or a student seeking Christian vocational work.
For an informal chat, please call Pads Dolphin (the Vicar) on 07866-754770.
